Marcelina Alderete Gonzales Obituary
Born in Jalisco, Mexico on January 15, 1918, Marcelina Alderete Gonzales epitomizes the beacon of love, light, and family even through her passing on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. In 1941, after migrating to Bakersfield, Marcelina married Ralph Larry Gonzales, began her calling of rich family life, goodwill, and charity.
Marcelina is survived by her first son Samuel (& Gayle) Gonzales; her only daughter Patricia Ortiz and her children, Marina ( & Agustin Lacayo) and Tricia Ortiz; her son John (& Bernice) Gonzales and their children Jon Gonzales and Gina Wegis; her son James Gonzales; and her youngest son, Ralph (& Ann) Gonzales, Jr. and their sons, Chris, Bryan, and Sean Gonzales. She was fortunate to have known, loved, been survived by her great-grandchildren Sydney and Kate Wegis, Jonah, Juniper, Jillian, and Jianna Gonzales, Danielle Lacayo, and ushered into gates of heaven by her first great-grandson Jasper James Gonzales.
"The General" is survived by, as well, by her loving brother Samuel Alderete, and gracious sisters Carmen Santibanez, and Mary Lou Alderete. She joins her husband Ralph, her sister Lucy Alderete, her brothers Cirilo, Manuel, Fortino, Alfonso, Salvadore, Greg, and John Alderete, brother-in-law Louis Santibanez, son-in-law Cruz Ortiz, brother-in-law James Gonzales.
A devoted matriarch to charity and the Catholic Church, Marcelina will be remembered by friends and famly as the beacon of love and strength, having been the primary caretaker of her husband in sickness and son after major injury, as well as the mother of a survived Vietnam War Veteran.
Sundays gatherings at her house became the Home away from Home for all extensions of family and friends who became family through Marcelina's grace. Without inhibitions, Marcelina wore the Love and Grace of her family every step of the way, which has inherently been passed on to anyone who has felt the warmth of her home to all, and loving ways of her family, young and old.
Marcelina knew no boundaries when it came to friends, family, charities, and God's goodwill, and anyone and everyone who was graced by this descendant of God, knows how beautiful, blessed, and appreciated people were to be around her.
Associated with Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Francis Church, and Garces Memorial High School, Marcelina takes with her the love for easy listening music from her favorites, Johnny Mathis, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, as well as annual summer trips to Lake Tahoe with her family shall be imprinted forever in the hearts of everyone who knew this brilliant and loving Angel who made this world a heaven on earth for so many loved ones.
Rosary and funeral to be held in loving memory of Marcelina on Monday, December 8 at 9:30am at St. Francis Church of Assisi.
