Maria Alejandra Guerra

1931 - 2018 Obituary Condolences

MARIA ALEJANDRA GUERRA
February 9, 1931 - June 6, 2018.

Our beautiful mother, Maria Alejandra Guerra, went to Heaven June 6, 2018. She was surrounded by her family and beloved husband Rodolfo. She was born February 9, 1931, to Refugio and Agustina Landeros, in El Dorado, Kansas. Mom was a compassionate, gentle, and a faithful woman. She was an optimist who always had positive, uplifting advice and kind words. Her greatest wish was to be a teacher, and by the grace of God, she was! She taught her 14 children the values of respect, humility, and compassion. She continued to teach her 58 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren God's unconditional love. Mom also poured so much love into her cooking! Her famous fried chicken on Easter trips to Caliente, her mouth-watering homemade tortillas with butter after school, and her delicious rice that no one could seem to match were her specialties! She was PTA President and was proud of her family when they were named Family of the Year in 1984 by the Kiwanis. Her greatest love was her husband, Rodolfo Arenas Guerra. She was courted and serenaded by her beloved until marrying on May 1, 1948. Their "Historia de Amor" is one of pure passion, sacrifice, and love. Her favorite serenade songs were "Nosotros" and "Besame Mucho." They were blessed to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with Father Craig Harrison at St. Francis Church, May 1, 2018. Mom's beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and amazing spirit will never be forgotten. She spent her last days surrounded by prayers, laughter, singing and, of course, the passionate serenades of our father. She was grace, elegance, and the epitome of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julia Gonzales; son-in-law, Jess Gonzales; and grandsons, Jess Jr. and Armando Gonzales. She is survived by her beloved husband, Rodolfo Arenas Guerra; sons, Rodolfo Jr. (Terri) Guerra, Domingo Guerra (Kristy), Lee Guerra (Jonnie), Luis Guerra (Patsy), Ben Guerra, Martin Guerra (Rosemary); daughters, Gloria Guerra, Lupe Ruiz (Robert), Rosie Martinez (Roy), Teresa Espinoza (John), Linda Pinales (Johnny), Angie Esparza (Martin), Anita Ruiz (John); 58 grandchildren and spouses, 55 great-grandchildren. Mom's greatest blessing was her family of 145! Her legacy will burn brightly in all of our lives, and we will continue to honor her with respect, humility, and compassion!
