Maria Petrita Sanchez Obituary
Maria Petrita Sanchez August 19, 1938 - June 16, 2103 Petrita was born to Erlinda and Rafael Duran on August 19, 1938 in Sante Fe, New Mexico. She went home to be with the Lord in June 16, 2013. While attending River Blvd elementary school she met the love of her life Richard Sanchez. They were married on May 10, 1955. They were blessed with four loving children Rick and Julie Sanchez, Loraine and Ernest Navarro, Elizabeth (Liz) and Frank Olivarez and Ralph (Greg) Sanchez. Mom had various jobs throughout her life. Some of her favorite things to do were sewing, crafting and of course watching the Lakers, Dodgers, and Angels games on T.V. She really had a blast when she went to see the games live with her family. She was one of the active fans that would participate in all the cheers as well as reprimand the players for making mistakes. She was a good sideline coach. Her favorite thing to do was to be with her family. She was a vital part in raising her four children. Life got real good when she was able to help with her grandchildren and then great grandchildren. Mom was also very active in her faith, She not only shared it with her children but also with other family members and friends. She was a long time member of San Clemente Mission in Bakersfield, CA teaching catechism to the children. She loved to worship the Lord and was a part of the church worship team. Petrita is survived by her brothers David and wife Gwen, Ralph and wife Laurie; her sister Anita and husband Paul Zimora; and sister-in-law Toni Duran. The real joy in her life were her grandchildren Richard III and Veronica, Regina and Ryan Sanchez, Veronica Erlinda and Vanessa Navarro, Audra and Kristie Olivarez, Nanette and Ruben Rodrriguez, Lindsey and Mark Reyes, and Ralph Jr. and Trisha Sanchez. She was also blessed with 18 great grandchildren who she truly cherished, with the anticipation of a new arrival on the way. Oh yes, we can't forget her longtime companion Minnie, our four legged sister. She is preceded in passing by her parents; brothers Roman and Juan Duran; sister Viola Minoz; husband Richard Sanchez; and grandsons Russel James Sanchez and Ralph Gregory Sanchez III.
