1932 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
Socorro Lencioni was born June 29, 1932, in Fort Stockton, TX, and died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 14 at age 84. She was preceded in death by her husband Oreste Joseph Lencioni, sister Amparo Pena, parents Manuel and Celestina Pena, and great granddaughter Abrienne Marmolejo.
Socorro grew up in Fort Stockton, TX, and graduated with a teaching degree from Sul Ross University in Alpine, TX, at age 19. Soon after graduating college, she moved to California, became a teacher, and was married to the love of her life, Oreste, for 43 years before his passing. Socorro worked for the Bakersfield City School District for 39 years teaching Reading and English. She was an avid recreational Bridge player and taught Bridge as an elective at Chipman Junior High.
She is survived by sons Oreste "Joey" Lencioni and wife Dana; Dennis Lencioni and wife Jodi; daughters Brenda Marmolejo and husband Eddie; Karen Othart and husband Bill; 14 grandchildren, Rusty, Brian, and Greg Lencioni; Jake, Ethan, and Noah Lencioni; Tim and Stephanie Johnson and Marc, Dominic, Anthony, and Gabrielle Marmolejo; Jennifer and Martin Othart; 9 great grandchildren; and brothers Juan Pena and Manuel Pena.
The family wishes to thank all those who prayed for, supported, and visited her. A special thank you to her granddaughter, Stephanie Johnson, and caregiver, friend, and adopted family member, Anna Andrade, for providing hours of daily care and companionship.
A Rosary will be officiated at 10:30 a.m. by Msgr. Perry Kavookjian, on Saturday, September 24, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12300 Reina Road in Bakersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
