1928 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Marian Lillian Danesi Coombs Obituary
Marian Lillian Danesi Coombs January 15, 1928 - November 6, 2013 Born to Italian immigrant parents Luigi and Carolina Danesi, Marian resided in Bakersfield all of her life. She attended St. Francis High School and Lufkins Business College and worked in the credit office of Weill's Department Store in downtown Bakersfield prior to her marriage to William "Bill" Coombs in 1947. Marian was exceptionally proud of her Italian heritage and took great pleasure in making traditional Tuscan recipes passed down through her family. She was known for her delicious raviolis and biscotti. She and her brother Louis shared many wonderful days preparing these family favorites. Marian was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest joy was her family, especially her children and granddaughter, of whom she was most proud. She was a skilled artist and developed a talent for oil and china painting and delighted in giving hand-painted gifts to family and friends. She was a member of the Kern City China Painting Club and loved attending china painting shows in southern California and exhibiting her work. She took numerous painting classes over the years to hone her talent, and always strove to capture beauty in nature. Marian was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, William Coombs; her brother Louis Danesi; and her infant son, Louis John Coombs. She is survived by her daughter, Carol and son-in-law Phillip Sansone; son John Coombs and John's fiancee, Joanie Ross, and granddaughter, Heather Ennis. She faced many health challenges with personal strength, fortitude and an indomitable fighting spirit. That spirit will remain an inspiration to all who loved her. A special thanks to Dr. Edward McPherson for helping our mom be with us for the last ten years. Rest easy, Mom. May you at last be pain-free and happy once again.
