Marilyn peacefully passed away and went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2016. She was born in Bakersfield, California on March 20, 1931. Her family later moved to Coalinga, California, and there she was raised with her sister and brother. She married her high school sweetheart, Arthur Teagarden, and they moved to Bakersfield where they raised their three children. Marilyn worked as an insurance agent for Great Western until her children had graduated from high school. At that time, she and her husband moved to their cabin and made Bass Lake their home for 20 years. They returned to Bakersfield in order to be close to children and grandchildren. Marilyn enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was gardening, playing outside with her grandchildren, or just sitting on the dock at Bass Lake. She was a special Nana to all of her grandchildren. She had the best sense of humor, and her kind and loving ways will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her son, Jim Teagarden, and her husband, Art Teagarden. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Teagarden Chavarria; her son, Bob Teagarden, and wife, Pam; sister, Betsy Schaffer and husband, Jerry; brother, Ralph Neate, Jr., and wife, Shelly; and her 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services will be held in the chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 10:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hoffman Hospice.
