Marilyn Cheeseman Obituary

Marilyn Valentine Cheeseman 1925 - 2010 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, at 10:00 a.m., at the New Life Center, 4201 Stine Road in Bakersfield, for Marilyn "Pinkie" Valentine Cheeseman who passed away October 16, 2010 with family members by her side after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's and lung cancer. She was 85 years old. Marilyn was born on St. Valentine's Day to Wilfred and Nellie Coyle in Los Angeles, CA, but lived most of her life in Bakersfield, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tom Coyle. Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper for Jim Dandy Homes in Bakersfield. She and her husband also managed two RV parks in Morro Bay, CA, before retiring and moving back to Bakersfield in 1998. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Dale Cheeseman of Bakersfield, CA; her three children and their spouses, Ken and Nancy Cheeseman of Bakersfield, Diane and Marion Brignoli of Gleason, WI, and Scott and Jody Cheeseman of Bakersfield; five grandchildren, Dale, Stephanie, Lee, Rae Ann, and Scott; and eight great grandchildren, Lexy, Kristen, Jennifer, Eric, Jacob, Skylar, Saxon and Keanna. If three words could sum up Marilyn's life, it would be JOB WELL DONE! She will be greatly missed. The family wishes to acknowledge their deep, heartfelt appreciation of family and friends for their loving thoughts, support and devotion during Marilyn's last months here on earth. The staff of Hoffmann Hospice were extraordinary, to say the least. Memorial donations may be made to Hoffmann Hospice, 8501 Brimhall Rd., Bakersfield 93312, the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer's Society. www.bakersfield.com/obits

To my loving Grandmother -- Words can't express the loss I feel for the angel that has blessed my life. You have defined so much of who I am and showed love, patience and gentle guiding hand in my life. While I mourn our loss, I am so incredibly fortunate to have had you for so long in my life. Your legacy will be passed on to your great grandchildren and beyond. You have made all of our lives so much brighter and so much richer for who you were and how much you made all of us better. I remember our epic trip that summer in 1974 to Long Beach which happened to be the highlight of my growing up. You and I had that memory as if it was our special secret and our special time in which it was only us. That was the effect you had on me at all times. Always always always, you gave your time to me as if it was just the two of us even when there was a crowd around. You protected our relationships like a mama bear because you saw to it that our family was more important than anything. You never had a cross word to say about any of us and never made us feel like we weren't a part of you. I'll miss your Thanksgiving dinners, your warm and easy laugh, your tender kisses on our cheeks with the little dash of red lipstick, the warm days on the lake with you and Grandpa, and especially the warmth of your love. I always knew when something was truly good by your proclamation "oh that's keen." That was the only stamp of approval I needed. I've cried every night since your passing and I'll cry more, but I will always be thankful that God allowed me to be your grandson. I love you Grandma, I and I will always have you in my heart until I make my own last breath and can be with you again. Love, Lee, Tara and the kids.
