Marion Leona Owen Obituary
Marion passed away peacefully at Evergreen Gardens on January 11th. She is survived by her nephews Wade and Kent Roberts and their families. Marion was born June 6, 1927 in Nevada, but spent most of her life living in North Bakersfield and the Los Angeles areas. Marion graduated from Standard School and Bakersfield High School. She continued her friendship with her Standard Alumni friends by meeting with them each month for many years. Marion had successful careers as a secretary, escrow officer, bank teller, bookkeeper, and title officer. A letter dated in 1945 was recently found that was written by Cecil Meadows of the Kern County Airport. It stated that Marion was "outstanding in character and possessed integrity beyond reproach and was an efficient and loyal employee." Through the years, Marion loved playing the organ, bowling, and painting. She especially enjoyed oil painting and ceramics. Marion was an active member of her church and volunteered for Hoffmann Hospice when she was able. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ, Bible studies and music. Marion will be remembered for her kind spirit, easy laughter, and strong work ethic.
The family wishes to give thanks to the staff at Evergreen Gardens for their wonderful care for Marion the past month and a special appreciation to Hoffmann Hospice for their compassionate and professional service to Marion and her family.
A graveside memorial will be held by her family and friends at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 29th at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hoffmann Hospice at 8501 Brimhall Road Building 100 Bakersfield Ca 93312.
