Marjorie Miriam "Sis" Elliott Obituary
Margie went to be with her Lord at the age of 90. Margie was born in Powhatan, Arkansas to Robert and Ida Belle Flippo. As a school girl, she enjoyed participating in 4H activities and various ports, especially basketball. As a young woman, she worked many years as a waitress. She and her first husband, Monroe Jones, moved to Bakersfield, Ca in 1946. Margie was married to her second husband, Bill Elliott, on June 23, 1973. They were co-owners of BE & ME Trucking Company.
Margie was an auxilian at Mercy Hospital, an avid bowler and was a member of Christ Church of the Valley. Margie's loving and caring good nature endeared her to all. She has a twinkle in her eye that hinted to her witty, mischievous sense of humor. Even in her final days, a round of "She'll Be Comin' 'Round The Mountain" sung with her daughters could take her "happy place"! Margie's love for her family was obvious and it found expression every Christmas, when she prepared her famous fried chicken for all to enjoy.
Survivors include her daughters Leanne Ostrovski Davis (Phil), and Linda Delcid (Tim); daughter-in-law Pam Jones; step-daughters Sue Lloyd and Janis Craft (Rusty); Grandchildren Brian Ostrovski (Debi), Amy Bogan (Landon), Nicole Strategos (Steve), Shawn Jones, Timothy Delcid (Danielle), Josh Delcid (Andrea); Step grandchildren Karen, Scott, Traci, Terri, Stephanie and Jeffrey; as well as many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband Bill Elliott, son Lantie Jones, step-sons Steve and Jeff Elliott, and brothers Billy and Bobby Flippo.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, California with Visitation from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the or Hoffman Hospice.
