Mary Frances DeSherlia Obituary
Mary Frances DeSherlia, known by her friends as Frances was born in Arkansas, Kansas on October 21, 1924. She grew up in several places. She went Hollywood High and Redondo High in California and graduated from Alton High in Alton, Illinois where she met her husband, Kenneth DeSherlia. She was survived by two children Michael and Vicki, 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In her youth she was always involved in sports, basketball, baseball, and later in life she loved to play golf and tennis as a longtime member of Stockdale County Club. For many years she was active with the Women's Club in Bakersfield and also became very active with her church, Fruitvale Community which evolved into RiverLakes Community Church. She retired for a while and then returned to open a business (a party store called Celebrations) with her best friend Kris Allen. Frances had lots of friends and loved spending time playing golf, tennis, gin rummy, bridge and well as leading a bible study group. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to cook for and entertain her friends and family. Her love was unconditional and her giving was great. She was loved and she will be missed.
Graveside services are at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, and reception at the Royal Palms Mobile Estates community center to follow after the services. Our family invites you to attend the service and/or the reception.
