Mary Lazenby Obituary

Mary Lavina Lazenby 1930 - 2010 Mary Lavina Lazenby was born July 28, 1930 in the Governor's Mansion at Prescott, AZ. She departed this world September 13, 2010 surrounded by family and friends in Bakersfield, CA. As a member of the First Pentecostal Church since 1965, Mary and Wayne opened Bethel Kiddie Korral (BKK) with a start-up budget of $100. Mary was the director of BKK for over 10 years and built a thriving daycare that continues to operate today. She and her husband, Wayne, served as the church accounting team for 25 years. Mary was an avid learner with an artistic bent, which she displayed in her oil paintings, handmade china dolls, ceramics, scrap books and her Farmville farm. She loved life, loved God, loved traveling and most of all loved Wayne and her kids and grandkids! Mary will be sorely missed by her husband of 60 years, Joel Wayne Lazenby; by her children and their spouses, Sharon Gunther, Mel Lazenby and David Lazenby; and by her 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. followed with a service at 1:00 p.m., at the First Pentecostal Church, 1418 W. Columbus St. on Thursday, Sept. 16th. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Bro. Lazenby, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I loved running into yall at Costco and having our chats. Sis Lazenby has been special to me since way back when I went to Bethel. She would always encourage me to keep on pushing on and would always stop to talk no matter what her work load was like. She will be truly missed.

Wayne - Please know my thoughts and prayers are coming your way. John and I had such a wonderful time on our Alaskan Cruise with you both and I always looked forward to coming to chuch when I visited Bakersfield to see all of Bill & Zola's. Mary was a very sweet lady and I loved her sweet smile. John died 5 years ago this Thursday - the day you are having her service. Know I am thinking of you. Gods blessings...Deanna Gee
