Mary Lee Etta Ewing (Travis) January 2, 1932 - June 29, 2012 Mary Lee Etta Ewing (Travis) was born January 2, 1932 in Decatur, IL and she passed into Glory on June 29, 2012 in Bakersfield, CA. Mary married Robert (Bob) Ewing of Decatur on February 11, 1950 in Corinth, MS. On October 9, 1953, Bob and Mary moved to Bakersfield, CA where they started a family of three boys. In 1967, they moved to the Kern River Valley, built their own home, and continued to raise their family. Bob and Mary stopped working in 1988 and toured the country. In 2005, both Bob and Mary professed their faith in Christ. Mary wrote: "Lord, I want to thank You for Bob and I being saved even if it was late in life." That same year, they sold their home and moved back to Bakersfield. Mary is survived by her adoring husband of 62 years, Bob, and her brother John and sister-in-law Shirley of Decatur, IL as well as her three sons: Steven, daughter-in-law Sue, and grandchildren Brianna and Natalie; Brian, daughter-in-law Susan, and grandchildren John and Connor; Kevin, daughter-in-law Marti, and grandchildren Justin, Amanda, and Tim. Mary and her family would like to thank Madelyn, Tanya, Natalie, Alma, Armando, Carolyn and everyone else at Optimal Hospice for making the transition from this life as comfortable as possible. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery, River Boulevard, on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. John Gage, Minister of Music at Valley Baptist Church and wonderful neighbor will officiate. www.bakersfield.com/obits
