Mary Louise Ghilarducci 1934 - 2012 Mary Louise Ghilarducci, 78, passed away August 4, 2012 peacefully at her home into the arms of her Heavenly Father with her loving family by her side. She fought a courageous and valiant battle against Alzheimer's and Cancer. Mary is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Amato, and her children Roberta Palos, Christy Faul, Julie Mercer and Lino Amato Ghilarducci., 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her mother-in-law, Mary M. Ghilarducci, sisters-in-law Armanda and Lina Ghilarducci, brother-in-law Michael Ghilarducci (Cindy) and several nieces. She was predeceased by her parents and son James. Mary was born in El Segundo, CA, January 7, 1934, to Earl and Monte Toler. After graduating high school, Mary was employed by Pacific Bell as a telephone operator. She spent her early life in Tehachapi raising her children, finally settling in Bakersfield. She served as Relief Society President for the church of the LDS, which she loved so much. Through the years one of her passions was collecting items for the Homeless shelters. Mary and her husband Amato, spent many wonderful years side by side rescuing animals that needed homes and going from place to place feeding and placing cats and dogs in safer environments. She also rescued Desert Tortoises. Mary was fond of her dogs and referred to them as "her babies". She rescued many Chihuahuas, always managing to find room for one more! She was devoted to her cat Bella. One of her favorite pastimes was going to "yard sales" and frequenting antique shops. In her later years she visited Rosemary's Creamery on a daily basis. Although her Alzheimer's prevented her from doing the many things she enjoyed, she lived her later years with great pride and dignity. She had a smile and kind word for all those she met. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alpha Canine Sanctuary, P. O. Box 5517, Bakersfield, CA 93388 At her request, Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012.
