Michael Jay Beeman, Sr. May 3, 1944 - May 21, 2012 Michael "Mike" Jay Beeman, Sr. was born in Bloomville, Ohio, 68 years ago. He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Velma Inez Beeman; their children, Michael Jay Beeman, Jr. and his wife Shawn, Phillip Thomas and his wife Judy, and Suzan Haenelt and her husband Marty; his grandchildren, Becky and Erin Thomas, Christopher Haenelt, Lauryn, Jessica, and Gavin Beeman; one great-grandchild, Nolan Keyes; and two older siblings, Wanda Ramey and Art Beeman. Mike was a Kern County resident for over 44 years. He served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964 as a Torpedo Technician in Honolulu, Hawaii. He worked for Mobil Chemical in Bakersfield for 27 years, until he and his lovely wife moved to Centre, Alabama, 17 years ago. They recently returned to Bakersfield for health reasons, and Mike was able to share his last days in the company of his loving family. He was a strong and loving husband and a compassionate father who effectively passed on his work ethic and skills, as well as his good nature. He will long be remembered for his wit, resourcefulness, and creativity. Mike will be honored at a brief graveside service on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin, California.
