Michael Johnson Obituary
Michael Johnson was born in 1955 and went to his real home in heaven on May 4, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Florine Johnson.
He is survived by his brother, Nate Johnson and his sister, Patricia Shiloh and their families. He is also survived by his wife, Kathy Johnson and his daughter, Aliyah Johnson Gonzalez and her husband, Fidel. Michael attended Maple Elementary School and Wasco High School where he was a South Sequoia Champion, Sierra Sequoia Divisional Champion and Outstanding High School Wrestler. At Cal State Bakersfield he was NCAA Division II All American. In college he beat Dan Severn who was the first MMA World Champion and he beat him at Arizona State on his home turf. Mike was a tough competitor. Michael went to work for Chevron Oil Company until he went into Christian ministry in the early 1990s. He was an active and lifetime member of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Association. Michael also worked as a substitute teacher in the Taft and Maricopa schools.
Michael will be remembered as many things-a son, a brother, a husband, a father, an uncle, an athlete, a coach, a teacher, a Christian, a pastor and a faithful friend.
Mike's funeral service will be on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 630 Kern St., Taft. The viewing will be on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home, 501 Lucard St., Taft.
