Michael Lee Thompson

02/12/1958 - 07/04/2014 Obituary
A celebration of Life will be held July 16, 2014 at 10:00am at Greenlawn Southwest Mortuary on Panama Lane for Michael Lee Thompson, 56, of Bakersfield. Garth Black of Westside Church of Christ will officiate.
Michael was born in Bakersfield on February 12, 1958 to Roy Lee and Pat Thompson. He attended Highmore High in Highmore, South Dakota and participated in various activities including the wrestling program there.
Michael was able to experience the diversity of different regions of our country as traveling was a necessity for the family's beekeeping business. As a child he participated in the Boy Scouts and loved adventures. Throughout his life, his main passion and lifelong obsession was fishing. And it could be any kind of fishing. He loved sitting for hours and hours on the edge of a lake, river, stream, ocean or on a boat, as long as there was water and the challenge and the thrill of a BIGGER fish to be caught.
He worked for a time on fishing boats on the Central Coast and loved the experience of getting paid for what he was born to do. He had a love of motorcycles and particularly Harley's. He met many motorcycle enthusiasts as an adult and kept those friendships close to his heart.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee and sister, Cynthia. He is survived by his mother, Pat Rhoades and brother David as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. Michael will be greatly missed by all who came to know him for his free spirited outlook on life.
