Michael Terrence Gray Obituary
Michael Terrence Gray, age 75, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2014 in his home in Bakersfield, California. The cause of death was congestive heart failure.
Born July 21, 1939 in Shafter, California and raised by his mother Dorothy and John Gray, he attended Bakersfield High School and graduated in 1957. Michael served ten years in the Marine Corps and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam as a gunner crew chief on a CH46 helicopter until his Honorable Discharge in June 1976, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. On July 2, 1988, he married the most beautiful woman in the world Linda Jean Gray. "She took my breath away from the moment that I saw her. The love for Jesus that she showed me made me a better man," Mike stated. They were married for 26 years.
He lived in many locations and worked as a Barber for 52 years until retiring in 2004, touching many lives and making several friends along the way.
Michael will be especially remembered for his sense of humor, patriotism, good heart and kindness. He received the following medals: Purple Heart, Air, National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign and Good Conduct.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Gray; daughter Tina Donovan and her sons Joseph, Matthew, Kelley and Logan; daughter Nancy Moulton (George) and son Bret; and daughter Ginger Tolman (Raul Angulo); as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Memorial service will be held in the Basham Funeral Care Chapel (3312 Niles Street) on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. The burial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Bakersfield National Cemetery and is open to the public.
