Michelle Marie Carlson Obituary
Michelle Marie (Clarksean) Carlson, 52, of Bakersfield, entered into eternal life on the morning of September 18, 2015 surrounded by her husband and children at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield. She was born September 11, 1963 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of Junior and Jeanette Clarksean.
Michelle graduated from Highland High School in Bakersfield, California. On September 20th, 1991, she married her best friend, Andrew Carlson. After their wedding and the birth of Andrew, Michelle became a stay-at-home mom. To say that Michelle was a loving wife and devoted mother seems a gross understatement. She attended school functions of all four children and provided "Room Mother" treats. Michelle was never idle, and as the children grew, Michelle ran her own catering business; she was successful with that endeavor until she grew too ill to continue. When not cooking, adventuring to the beach, or attending her kids' numerous sporting events and school activities, Michelle found joy in spending time with her children and numerous nieces and nephews. She was happiest when her house was full of kids, laughter, her extended family, and homemade food.
Her four children were the light that helped her to endure the strenuous bouts of illness that she faced for much of her last few years of her life. Despite her illness, Michelle found the strength to shop for formal dresses with her daughters, advise her sons how to be gentlemen, attend her children's eighth grade, high school, and university graduations, send three of her children off to college, and watch one graduate from the University of Merced. She was fiercely proud of her four children, and rightfully so.
She is survived by her husband Andrew C. Carlson; four children, Andrew, Chloe, Grace and Samuel; her mother Jeanette Clarksean of Bakersfield; her five siblings, Thomas (Suzanne) Clarksean, Tamara (Bruce) Bushnell, Michael (Stacey) Clarksean, Patrick Clarksean, Paul (Amber) Clarksean, her in-laws; Robert (Bonnie) Carlson, Mary Alice (Sidney) Chapin, Chris (Cathy) Carlson, Russell (Lindsay) Carlson, John (Geri Lynn) Carlson, Joe (Donnalee) Carlson, Jamie (Kim) Carlson and her 43 nieces and nephews. Her father Junior Otto Clarksean preceded her in death.
Visitation (5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.) and a Rosary (6:00 p.m.) will be offered Thursday, September 24, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3700 River Boulevard. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 25 at St. Francis Parish-900 H. Street.
