Miriam Newbold Boynton Obituary
We have sadly lost another of the "Greatest Generation."
Miriam Boynton was born December 25, 1917 and entered Heaven on October 2, 2015. She had lived in Bakersfield since 1935. Miriam married Julius Boynton in 1946 and they were together until his death in 2004, traveling on weekends to their vacation home in Montecito, CA to be with family.
In her younger years, Miriam was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, PTA, Bible Study Fellowship and Riverlakes Church Women's Fellowship. She also served on the Grand Jury and was very active in the Republican Party. Hers was a life of quiet support, love and giving to many friends, neighbors and especially family. Her positive outlook, great faith, and encouragement were so appreciated by everyone that knew her. Miriam spread love, kindness, compassion, laughter, gratitude and grace wherever she went.
Miriam will be so missed and is survived by her two devoted daughters; Patricia Boynton Thomas (husband: David) of Santa Barbara, CA and Laurie Boynton Fahey of Colorado Springs, CO and their children. She is also survived by local nephew L.A. (Butch) Boynton, stepdaughter Sally Kennedy, brother William Newbold and sister Karla Newbold Waller.
A special thank you goes to Miriam's faithful companion Armida Pino and her family for their remarkable loyalty, devotion, affection, and care for Miriam for so many years. Miriam deeply loved and appreciated Armida.
Private family graveside services and celebration of her life have already been held.
