Nazario Charlie Rosas Obituary
A celebration of life will be held on October 16, 2014 for Nazario Charlie Rosas who entered God's presence on October 7 after a brief illness.
Charlie was born on December 22, 1934 in Temple, Texas, the second of five children of Lamberto and Ignacia Rosas. He grew up all around Texas and attended Coahoma High School, graduating in 1954. After graduation he joined the Army, traveling around the world. After leaving the Army he wound up in El Paso, Texas eventually meeting and marrying the love of his life, Alejandra, and marrying in 1960. After several years, they made their way to California, eventually winding up in Bakersfield where they made their home to this day. Their oldest daughter Theresa arrived in 1967 and their son Thomas followed in 1970. Charlie worked at several careers, with Public Finance, Jim Burke Ford and in real estate and was always looking forward to the next career or training session he could attend. Charlie was a proud member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, always ready to help out at any function or committee that needed his assistance. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, acting as Grand Knight for a period of time.
Charlie loved the Lord but was most proud of his family. He could be found at Thomas' Garces High school football games blowing his horn for every good play that was made and he sat proudly in the audience at Theresa's piano recitals and band performances. When in a good mood he would break out into a very off-key rendition of his favorite hymn, "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" causing his children to roll their eyes. But he was most proud of his grandchildren all of whom were incredibly beautiful, talented and smart in his eyes and he was always more than happy to brag about them to anyone who would listen. Every person Charlie met became an instant friend and part of the family. He made you feel that you had known him for a lifetime even if you had only met him once.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Lamberto and Ignacia Rosas. He is survived by his wife Alejandra, daughter Theresa and husband Tim, and son Thomas and wife Shelley. Seven grandchildren were his pride and joy: Allison, Jacob, Rebecca, Caitlin and Joey Burich, and Christopher and Anthony Rosas. He also leaves behind brothers Trinidad and Robert, sisters Amelia and Mary and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. with mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Interment to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Bakersfield National Cemetery.
