Nellie Gamino Albitre Obituary
Nellie Gamino Albitre passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children and several of her grandchildren on September 8, 2014. She was born in Globe, Arizona and then moved to Bakersfield at the age of 4 to become a life-ling resident.
Nellie is survived by her sister, Louise Araujo and her children: John Albitre (Lucy), Joseph Albitre (Roselind), Ernest Albitre, James Albitre (Karen), Robert Albitre (Debbie), Evelyn Arias (Louis Jr.), Betty Aros (Rudy), Bernadette Liphart (Matt), Cindy Thompson (Rick). Nellie raised her family of ten while working as a seamstress at Gottschalk's and even hand-sewn all of her daughter's wedding dresses. She was known to be a great care taker and she put her families needs above her own. Nellie also loved being a grandmother and took pride in her family. She had 37 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Even though there were many of them, she handmade gifts for all of them over the years. She loved to read, sew, and crochet.
In passing to eternal life, Nellie joins her late husband, Bautista "Boy" Albitre and her daughter, Eloise "Dolly" Albitre. She also joins her parents, Eleuterio Gamino and Ysidora Mojica-Gamino; and her siblings, James Gamino, Mary DeLeon, Dora Dominguez, Lucy Ruiz, and Lupe Figueroa. Nellie loved the Lord with all of her heart. She enjoyed attending Women Aglow meetings, Damas En Fuego meetings, women's retreats and charismatic conventions. She was known as a prayer warrior and left a legacy of love and inspiration to all who knew her.
A special thanks to Cindy, Berni, Jim and Robert for the loving care they provided. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Sarkies, Nurse Lori, and the staff from Hoffmann Hospice whose kindness and compassion proved comfort for Nellie in her last days. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gary Albitre, Jeff Albitre, Bobby Albitre, Kris Albitre, Remick Albitre, Anthony Albitre, Mark Arias and Rudy Aros. Honorary pallbearers will be, Joey Albitre, Larry Albitre, Marcus Albitre, Robbie Albitre, Louie Arias and Chuck Arias.
In lieu of flowers please donate to CASA or a . On Saturday, September 13, 2014 there will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Assembly of God (2800 Larson Lane) Immediately after the service, a graveside service will take place at Union Cemetery and a reception will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Kern Christian Center at 4701 Gosford Road.
