NITA JUANITA GOEHRING Obituary
Nita Goehring was born on November 6, 1939, to Rufus and Ruby Fay Hillis in Plainview, Texas. She graduated in 1958 from North High School in Bakersfield. She and her husband, Allen Goehring, celebrated 57 years of marriage in June. Nita loved life which was evident by her successful businesses, which included a plant store and two nursery schools, where her true passion was recognized, children. She also worked in The Magnet Program at Cesar Chavez Elementary. Nita loved kids of all ages, especially those newborn babies!
She understood the meaning of family and loved to host and entertain. You could always count on her signature yellow casserole dish of Rice-A-Roni at any family gathering or holiday. Her grandchildren have fond memories of sleepovers at their "Mimi's" where you could bet on some spaghetti and Neapolitan wafer cookies.
Nita loved to talk. She was the "Information Pipeline" of the family and always wanted to know what was going on in people's lives. She was a welcoming face to many at her church, Grace Reformed. She was a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
On Monday, September 19th, surrounded by her loving family, Nita was called home to be with her Lord. She was preceded in death by her father; mother; brothers, Leonard and Donald; and sister, Bobbie. Nita is survived by her husband; brother, Richard Hillis and wife Linda; daughter, Kim and husband Jeff; son, Scott and wife Shelly; and son, Mark and wife Janet; her 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her Shih Tzu, "Baby."
Nita's joyful spirit was a blessing to all she met, and her smile and laughter will be truly missed.
Rev. Tracy Gruggett will officiate a graveside service at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 23rd, at Greenlawn Memorial Park on River Blvd., followed by a service and luncheon at Grace Reformed Church at 420 Columbus Street.
The family would also like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Parkview Julian Convalescent for their gentle and attentive care.
