Norman Albert Honeycutt Obituary
Norman was born in Anton, Texas but was brought to California as a young infant by his parents, Stanley Duke Honeycutt and Nellie Dillard. He grew up in Needles and Barstow, later spending time in the Pacific Northwest.
He served his country in the Army, first in the reserve and then on active duty. He was stationed for a while in Germany. After his Army service he returned to Los Angeles and a job with Automobile Club of Southern California where he worked for many years and retired in Bakersfield. After beginning his employment he met his wife Jane whom he had known as a child. He adopted her two children Thomas and Barbara, and later on son, Bruce was added to the family.
In earlier days Norman enjoyed hunting and fishing and later on golf. Jane died in January 2005 and Norman returned to St. Luke's Church where he met Darlene Marsh. Darlene and Norman were married May 20, 2006 and they enjoyed their retirement, church, friends, family and some travel.
Norman is survived by his wife, Darlene; sons, Thomas and Bruce Honeycutt; daughter, Barbara Parrish; grandson, David Parrish and his wife Ginny; granddaughter, Petra Honeycutt; great grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Parrish and Darlene's large family.
A Graveside Service will be held at Bakersfield National Cemetery (30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd) on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church (2730 Mallview Rd.) on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers those who wish may contribute to a Memorial Fund at St. Luke's.
