Novella Maxine Brast February 7, 1926 - February 25, 2012 Services will be held for Novella Maxine Brast, at 11:00 am, March 1, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church,124, Columbus Street, with a gravesite service immediately following at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. Novella, 86, was born in Wilding, West Virginia. She passed away February 25, 2012. Novella is pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years Bill and survived by her Children: Mark (Kim), Mike (Laurie), Matthew (Robbin), Mary Esther (Frank), and Tona Maureen; sister-in-law, Mary Showalter of Parkersburg, W VA; and Grandchildren: Daniel, Christine, April, Ben, Merrily, Erika, Tommy, Michael, Eric, Aaron, Ian, and Justin; Great-grandchild Ava. Novella graduated from St. Mary's High School and went on to graduate in1947 from St Joseph's Nursing Hospital. In 1959, Novella and Bill moved their family to Bakersfield where Bill worked for his brother-in-law at O B Nuzum Tire Service. Novella stayed at home to raise her five children. She returned to work as a RN at Bakersfield Memorial, San Joaquin, and spent over 20 years at the K C Health Dept. Once retired, in 1991, she enjoyed trips to Vegas, shopping, spending time with her children and their families, golfing with Bill and music. She was a proud and loving grandmother who always made everyone feel special. She knew a song for every situation and loved sharing them. She was very thoughtful and always put everyone else's needs ahead of her own. A special thanks to everyone at Brighton Manor and Hoffman Hospice for their gentle care and loving kindness.
