He came to Bakersfield in June of 1936, starting out as a migrate worker in Arvin, CA. This is where he met the love of his life, Lucille (Knight) Fike. They married on October 25, 1937 and had two children which they raised in Bakersfield, CA. He was a building contractor for many years in Bakersfield building homes, apartments, offices, churches and the Rescue Mission. Oran was a proud member of the Caledonia Lodge #486. Then he became a member of the Scottish Rite and continued on to become a member of the Kern County Shrine Club. He also was a member of The Clowns, known as Mustache the Keystone Cop, appearing at the downtown parades and the Potato Bowl events. He was a devout Christian and church member of the Fairfax Assembly of God. He loved traveling and became a member of the Moble Nobles. They traveled many places in their mobile home. He loved horseback riding. He even continued riding after heart surgery at the age of 84. He faithfully watched Baseball up to his final days. Also, he was a lifelong Democrat set in his ways. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Fike and son, Harry Fike. Oran leaves behind his daughter, Patsy Gonzales and husband Donnie; daughter-in-law, Judy Fike; grandchildren, Freddie and Charlotte Gonzales, Teri Gonzales, Steven and Karen Fike, Georgia Fike; and John Fike; 8 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends. Special thank you to great granddaughter, Julia, for the care she gave her grandfather and to Donnie for bringing and showing pictures to Grandpa of his newest great great grandson, Eli, the night before Grandpa Fike passed. A chapel service will be held on Monday, September 27th, 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Oran was the definition of kindness. He showed this love and kindness to my grandmother , Lorene Luker, by calling her on the telephone every day for the last few years of her life. Even after her passing, he called me a few times to see how things were going. I will always remember and be thankful for his special kindness

I am deeply saddened by your loss and hope you find strength during this difficult time. I have many wonderful memories of Oran, as a child and as an adult. It seems as though he and Toots were always present in my life. I remember his infectious laugh as he greeted me with a hearty grip around the arm, shoulder or knee. I remember sitting around my grandma's kitchen table with him talking about yesteryear, and I remember how he always thought to ask about how my work was going, a subject he appeared to find interesting. He was a generous soul and I will miss knowing he is no longer with us; he will forever be cherished.

Uncle Oran. It has been a few years since we have seen each other. Even though I didn't know you that well my dad, Ronne always talked about Uncle Oran. Please say hello to my grandma, Edith for me and tell her I miss her so very much. May you rest in peace.

To your family, we are really sadden to hear about Orans passing away, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. My Mother and
Father were very close to Oran and as were all the kids. He always had a smile each time he came to see us at our office. We will especially miss his strong handshake and pat on the back. We loved him very much. Again, our prayers are with your family.
