Orris Sheldon Lodien March 20, 1922 - June 29, 2012 On June 29, 2012 the Lord called Orris Lodien home. Born on March 20, 1922 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Aleck and Minnie Lodien. Orris served in the U.S Navy Transport Squadron from November 5, 1942 to May 7, 1946. He met Delores while she was working at the Leader Store in Cambridge and they were married on September 28, 1946 in Cambridge, Minnesota. Orris moved the family to Bakersfield, California in 1949 from Minnesota. Orris and Delores were primary organizers of the Greenacres Baptist Church (Grace Baptist Church) in one of the other couples garage. The first church building was started in 1958. One of Orris' favorite Bible verses is: Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths". Orris was employed at the Carnation Company here in Bakersfield for 32 years. Survived by his wife Delores of 66 years, Son Gary (Lynn), Daughter Pam (Ben), Brother Roger (Alice). Grandchildren: Brent, Stacy, Amanda (Jeff), Nathan. Great-Grandchildren: Kordell, Jaysey, Emma and Ava. Brother-In-Law Roy and Elenore Rundquist, Brother-In-Law George Hill along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Orris is preceded in death by his parents; Aleck and Minnie, brothers; Charles, Donley, Vernon, Norman and Maurice. Orris' most cherished accomplishments were his family. Our Husband, Father, Grandpa, Big PaPa and Old Grandpa will be greatly missed but never forgotten, he will be carried in our hearts forever.
