They moved to Bakersfield in January of 1954 and began their family. Gayle was a housewife and mother to four children. On June 28th of this year, Jim and Gayle celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Gayle enjoyed family outings, fishing at Lake San Antonio, and traveling in their bus. As the children grew older she became involved in the family business, Greenfield Auto Parts. She was an active member of the Greenfield First Southern Baptist Church where she volunteered many hours. She was instrumental in the fundraising and planning of the Ben Austin Senior Center in Greenfield. She volunteered and coordinated trips for the seniors' right up until August 3, 2002 when she had her first stroke. Even though she was unable to walk or drive she was still able to do most everything she wanted and kept us on our toes until the end. Gayle loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially loved babies!
