Patricia Lucille De Angelis Obituary
Patricia Lucille De Angelis passed away on December 23, 2014. She was one of five children born to the parents of Frank Matthews and Lucy Rutledge on January 16, 1931 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Her parents moved the family to Bakersfield when she was 13 years old. Patricia attended Standard Junior High School, Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield Junior College. She attended San Jose State University where she earned her BA degree to become a teacher.
It was while she was attending San Jose University she met her husband Larry. They were married on July 9, 1955, at Parks Air Force Base in Pleasanton, California. While he was stationed at Parks Air Force Base she taught at Charlotte Woods Elementary School in Danville, California.
She and her husband returned to Bakersfield in 1958 were she resumed her teaching in the Standard School District at Highland Elementary School until her retirement after 32 years in 1991.
Patricia was preceded in death by her father Frank; Mother, Lucy; brothers Harold (Virginia); Kenneth; and Sister Clarice (Fred) Doehrn. She is survived by her husband Larry, Son Gregory (Mary); daughter Dena (Michael) Schneemann and grandchildren, Jackie, Trevor, Macy and Kelvin.
Rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 30th, at 5:00pm and the funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 31st, at 10:00am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1800 Bedford Way, Bakersfield, CA. Burial will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 Mountain Blvd., Arvin, CA. Donations in her name may be made to Christ the King Building Fund.
