Patricia May Lovitt Obituary
Patricia passed away peacefully at home on January 12, 2015. She was born in 1934 in Los Angeles, California to James Edwin Campbell and Dorothy Marie Bader. She graduated in 1952 from John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles, California.
She is preceded in death by her husband B.J. Maier in 2001. She has four surviving children Colleen Maddy. Eileen Lovitt, Rosemarie (Mike) Dermer all residing in Bakersfield, California; one daughter Cathy Brooks of Fountain Valley, California; her beloved grandchildren Chris George, Jennifer Maddy, Shirley Martinez, Michael Dermer, Kristin Dermer and Tony Pickens.
Patricia was one of the original carhops at "The Clock" in Lynwood, California. she worked many waitressing jobs to support her family as a single parent. She went on to start her own catering business. She had several restaurants but her love was for Granny's Kitchen in Lake Elsinore, California which she owned and operated for 22 years and made many life long friends. Patricia was very active in the Lake Elsinore Community. Volunteering her talents to feed the poor and homeless through the local soup kitchens. She was a founding member of L.E.A.F. (Lake Elsinore Animal Friends). She joined forces with the Lake Elsinore Masonic's Lodge during the 1990's to provide meals for local seniors and shut -ins. With a sad heart she sold Granny's when B.J. passed away in 2001. She then moved back to Newport Beach to run their business A&D Party Rentals. She eventually moved to Bakersfield to be with her children.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers Betty, Sara, Estella and Optimal Hospice. You went above and beyond for mom. You will always have a special place in our heart.
Viewing and visitation is from 4:oo to 8:00pm with Rosary at 6:00pm on Thursday, January 22nd, at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. Mass will be held on Friday, January 23rd, at 1:30pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 124 Columbus Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
