Paul Hill Obituary

Paul David "PD" Hill July 20, 1927 - October 18, 2010 Paul David "PD" Hill was born in Shawnee, OK to Paul and Lura Hill. He was raised in Duncan, OK where he played football and excelled as an all-state basketball player. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University, where he played baseball and basketball, married the girl of his dreams, "the prettiest teacher in Oklahoma," and together they moved to Bakersfield to answer California's call for teachers. Paul taught at Emerson Junior High School until his retirement in 1989. Paul loved the Lord, his family and his friends. He lived out his love for Jesus every day and it was evident in everything he did. His greatest desire was for others to know the love of Jesus as he knew that love. PD is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ada Mae; his four sons, David (Gail), Kent (Felicia), Kurt (Joy), of Bakersfield, and Kyle (Diane) of Franklin, TN; sister, Gay Don Gibson of Norman, OK; brother-in-law, Roy Lee Dittmar of Commerce, TX; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. His infectious smile and welcoming personality will be missed by all his friends and family, but we know there is celebration in heaven. A special thank you to Paul's doctor, Dr. Luis Cousin, Optimal Hospice, especially Jennifer, Sid and Steve and Paul's loving caregiver, grandson, David Hill. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to Columbus Street Baptist Church, 714 Columbus St. Bakersfield, CA 93305. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Columbus Baptist Church, 714 Columbus St. Visitation will be today, Thursday, October 21, 2010, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. I have a treasure of memories of PD Hill. The legacy he has left for his family and all of us who knew and loved him was based on the Word of God that he exemplified every day of his life. PD was a very special man to our family and loved dearly. His presence in this life will be greatly missed. His presence in heaven is joyfully celebrated!

To Ada and all the family,
Praise God for P.D. Hill. Not only a teacher and example for his family and school kids, but also for us adults who needed his wisdom and leadership. Bill and I have been blessed because of the years we spent serving together.
God Bless You, Bill and Juanda Isaacs

We praise God for the Hill family and how God used them in our lives as an example of a Godly family. We are happy to hear that now PD is seeing face to face what we only see dimly (I Corinthians 13:12).
Love to all,
Rob and Joni (Isaacs) Branham and family

What a great man of faith and integrity. What a legacy he left as seen in his children and grandchildren. What a sad experience for all of us but heavenly celebration for PD. May God comfort all of you with the peace only His presence can bring.
