Paul Walton Obituary

Paul L. Walton July 31, 1921 - December 6, 2010 Visitation for Paul L. Walton will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Cryptside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. Paul was born in Nebraska on July 31, 1921. As a young man in his teens he sold LIFE Magazines door to door in New York City and loved to talk about it. He then entered into the U.S. Army and proudly served our Country with General Patton throughout Europe and he was awarded the Bronze Star. After the war, he met and married his long time love, Tena and moved from Los Angeles to Bakersfield in 1952. Paul was in the dairy business until he retired in 1987. He then worked for Calcot with his retired brother-in-law, Jack. They had great, funny stories! Paul and his wife Tena owned and operated Pier's Drive-In on Oak Street for many years. Tena preceded him in death on March 24, 2001. In the later part of his life, he enjoyed traveling with family, friends and neighbors who accompanied him to Las Vegas, Laughlin and Pismo. These were his favorite places to visit where he was always welcomed back as "Uncle Paul, the good looking Dude", by all. Marty and Sheri Comaianni want to thank all of his gracious neighbors who touched his life and attended to his every need. Optimal Hospice is truly appreciated for their end of life compassion. Paul also enjoyed his visits to the VA Medical Center in Los Angeles, as well as the VA Clinic in Bakersfield. "Uncle Paul" will truly be missed by all. I just today learned of Uncle Paul's passing. My wife Alice and I always looked forward to a visit with Paul. He was so much fun. He had a generous measure of character and dignity. Paul, we'll miss you, old friend.
