Paul Lozano Obituary
For those who were lucky enough to know Paul Lozano, you knew a gregarious, hard working, kind, selfless, fun loving, dedicated family man, and devout catholic. The only person Paul loved more than his three children; David, Patricia, and Paul, was his wife of 61 years, Mary.
Paul Lozano was born on February 24, 1933, to Jesus and Maria Lozano at the Di Giorgio Farm Labor Camp in Arvin, CA. Paul was the only boy amongst six sisters. He peacefully passed away on September 30, 2015, in the presence of his wife and grandson Alex.
Paul attended Kern Union High School (BHS), where he met the love of his life, Mary Martinez. Paul joined the Army after graduation in 1952 at the tail end of the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. Paul and Mary were married on August 28, 1954 and had three children, of which he was enormously proud. All three children attended the University of Pacific, in Stockton, CA; which was his dream. Paul held a number of jobs throughout his life; a Reserve Police Officer, a driver for McKesson & Robbins, and lastly, he retired from California Water Service.
Paul was most known by the countless youth football, baseball, volleyball, soccer, and basketball players throughout the county. If a player was hungry, 'Papa' always had food. If a player was in need, 'Papa' was there to lend a helping hand. Our father was a man who taught us how to love, live, and see the best in people. He was the most selfless person we have ever known.
Paul was also know for his ongoing volunteerism and donation of time to Greenfield Baseball Association, Southwest Baseball Association, St. Philips Holiday food basket program, and the St. Francis Rosary Group. Paul lived life to the fullest and loved to spend time with his wife and children and to travel. One of his greatest moments was when he sat in audience with Pope John Paul, II. Paul lived every day with honor, service, and in faith.
Paul is preceded in death by his mother Maria, father Jesus, infant siblings: Pablo, and Helena (twins), and Avelina Lozano; sister, Helen Trejio, sister, Adeline Lozano, and son-in-law, Louie Poire. Paul leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Mary Lozano; son David (Robin), daughter Patricia Poire, and son Paul (Tracey). He has eight grandchildren: Joel Lozano (Veronika), Paul Lozano, II, Fallyn Lozano, Michael Lozano, Dominic Lozano, Louie Poire, Alexzander Lozano, and Paxton Lozano. He also has three great grand children: Layla Lozano, Blaine, and Brian Lozano. Sisters: Antonia Jaime, Teresa Sunstrum (Sidney), Juanita Lozano, and Mary Lozano. The loss of Paul leaves a tremendous hole in the lives of his family and all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation is scheduled Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara. A rosary service will be held at St. Francis Church at 7:00pm on Sunday, October 4, 2015. The funeral mass will be held at St. Francis on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 9:00 am with a graveside service directly following at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Francis Youth Center.
"The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith."
