Pauline Renee Bartlett Obituary
Born on April 23, 1968 to Edward and Marilyn Hahn, Pauline Renee Bartlett was raised in Angola, New York, a small town just south of Buffalo. First attending Most Precious Blood Elementary, she then went to Lake Shore High School where she was active in several sports, including swimming, tennis, basketball, and volleyball. In her senior year, she started dating her husband-to-be, Eric Bartlett.
After graduating from high school, Pauline attended Fredonia State College and continued her athletic pursuits by managing the swim team. Two years later, she transferred to the Rochester (New York) Institute of Technology where she obtained her bachelor's degree in hotel and resort management in 1991. On September 7 of the same year, she and Eric married, spending their honeymoon driving across country to Bakersfield.
Pauline put her degree and considerable talents, skills, and gracious personality to work in the hospitality industry at the Sheraton Hotel, Rio Bravo Resort, and the Holiday Inn. In May 2002, she went to work at the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce. Serving in the capacity of Special Projects Manager, Pauline facilitated a wide range of committees and organized the Chamber's major fundraising events, interacting with hundreds of volunteers throughout the community.
In her spare time, Pauline enjoyed gardening, camping, backpacking, hiking, cooking, baking, her pets, and music, especially tunes from the 1980s. She also volunteered for several organizations, including Mayor Harvey Hall's Clean-Up Committee.
She is survived by her husband and soul mate, Eric Bartlett; her mother, Marilyn; two older sisters, Jennifer and Eileen; younger brother, Edward, as well as three nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
