Pauline Rose Obituary

Pauline Virginia Rose 1922 - 2010 Pauline Virginia Rose, known as "Toots" to her friends and loved ones. She beat the odds! Born in Byars, OK, September 13, 1922, she passed away in Coalinga, October 27, 2010, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years R.J. Rose; her son, Jerry Rose and wife Millie; and her daughter, Judy Rose. She has six grandchildren, Darrick Rose and his wife Tonya of Billings, MT, Ryan Rose of Clovis, Darrin Grogan, Casey Grogan, Irish and her husband Clay Mahan, and Emily Grogan and Keith Lyles of Bakersfield. She also has five great grandchildren Tayler and Dalton Grogan, Cameron Grogan, Samantha Mahan and Jackson Lyles of Bakersfield, and a large extended family. Toots came down with polio as a young child and spent much of her youth in a hospital, miles away from home. Doctors told her she would never be able to have children or live a full life. Toots was never one to be told what not to do. She and R.J. met in the 3rd grade where he helped her walk to school every day. In May of 1944, ten years later, they married and moved to California. Toots took care of the house and kids while Rosey worked. After the kids were grown, she joined Rosey and they stayed busy building up their businesses, running up and down the freeway, and spoiling all their grand and great grandchildren. The Rose family would like to extend sincere thanks to neighbors, Chuck and Eloise Vaughn, Gayle White, Millie Rose, and Nurses Becky Schindler and James Semoes with Adventist Health Hospice for their support and comfort. Toots taught us all that a handicap is not an excuse for failure. She was the embodiment of courage, resolve, and generosity. Sleep in peace Toots, until you're raised up perfect in the new world to come. (Rev. 21:3-4) A graveside service will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Reception following the service will be at the Eagle's Hall in Coalinga. www.bakersfield.com/obits

I can still remember the time I came and stayed with Grandma and got to go visit Aunt Pauline and we all took a trip to Fresno. What fun times. God bless you all and I will keep you in my prayers that God's healing hand will comfort you all. Love Shelley

Aunt Pauline had a smile that could warm the coldest hearts, and she had the determination the rivaled anything to get in her way. My Dad, Aunt Pauline's brother, idolized her, as did all of her family. We love you Aunt Pauline.

One of the nicest women I ever met. The Roses treated me so well. As a kid growing up in Coalinga, they hired me to mow their lawn. The first time I did, they showed me a refrig in the garage that was loaded with soda and to help myself. They were both such nice people. Rest in Peace Ms. Rose!
