Pearl Sanchez Obituary
Visitation will be held at Mt. Vernon Apostolic Church (519 Mt. Vernon Ave) on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Mt. Vernon Apostolic Church on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pearl Landeros Sanchez was born in Arvin, CA, Feb. 9, 1930, to Francisco R. Landeros and Mary F. Landeros. She attended Arvin Elementary School and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in June of 1947. On June 22, 1947, she married Apolinar "Chapo" Sanchez. The Lord blessed them with six children. Sis. Pearl was baptized in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ on June 15, 1952 in Bakersfield, CA, by Pastor Juan Rodriguez. She received the Holy Spirit on July 29, 1955. Sis. Pearl was a faithful member of the Apostolic Assembly Church of Lamont and the First Apostolic Assembly Church of Bakersfield where she employed her gifts of baking, hospitality, and singing for the honor and glory of God. In 2007, at the age of 77, she graduated from International Apostolic Bible College (CBAI) with a 3.9 GPA. Upon graduating from CBAI, she volunteered her time tutoring students at Bakersfield Apostolic Faith Academy. After celebrating 50 years of serving the Lord, she wrote over fifty songs and poems, including her favorite "Standing on the Rock of Ages."
She is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Mary Landeros; husband Apolinar "Chapo" Sanchez; brother Pete Bernal, and sister Beatrice Narez. She is survived by her children: Paul Sanchez and wife Rosemary, Debbie Duarte and husband Elias, Jeanette DeLaVega and husband Herbert, Joel Sanchez and wife Alberta, Mary Olvera and husband Joel, and Aaron Sanchez and wife Christina, 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Emmanuel Landeros and wife Mary, sister Lily Arvizu, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sis. Pearl Sanchez went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2015, after serving the Lord faithfully for 63 years. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and members of the Apostolic Assembly. For additional information, please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
