Phyllis Iona Kitchen Obituary
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 28th, at 1 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park for Phyllis Kitchen who went to join her beloved husband in eternal rest on March 21st, 2014. Phyllis was born on June 4th, 1938 to Norton and Maybell Nelson in Watonga OK. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Fauniel Kaiser and Thelma Vaughn; and the love of her life, her husband, Jerry Kitchen. She leaves behind but not forgotten, daughter, Judy Mott; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Allison Kitchen; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her brother, Lawrence Nelson and wife Martha; and sister, Letha O'Sullivan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Phyllis attended Lemoore High School and graduated with a degree from Coalinga College before marrying her love, Jerry Kitchen in 1961. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and you could always find her in the kitchen cooking or on her back patio sharing stories. Phyllis enjoyed knitting, gardening, cooking and had a passion for collecting ducks. She was active in P.T.A., Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls and spent many years as a scorekeeper & chaperone for Mike and Judy's baseball and softball teams. She was her grandchildren's biggest cheerleader, whether they were racing BMX, playing baseball, basketball or showing livestock at the KC Fair.
Mom will always be remembered for her enormous strength, generosity & caring heart! She will truly be missed by all!
