Phyllis was born on October 8, 1927, in Earlimart, California to James and Inez
Magee. Shortly after she turned 18 she married the love of her life, L.H. "Chuck" Bryant. Soon
after they got married, she started riding horses and found she loved the sport of barrel racing. And run them she did. She was the first President of the California Girls Rodeo Association, and was a lifetime gold card member of the Women's Professional Rodeo Association.
