Rachel A. Santa Cruz

1929 - 2016 Obituary Condolences Gallery

Rachel A. Santa Cruz passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2016. She was born March 26, 1929, in Bakersfield, CA, to Hilario and Naomi Chavez. Rachel married Alfred Santa Cruz in 1953 in Bakersfield, CA. They were happily married for fifty-nine years until the death of her husband in 2012.

Rachel was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family unconditionally. She always had a hug, a kiss, or a smile for anyone she met and always made sure you were fed. Through all her love and unselfishness, she did, however, love spending "alone time" with her husband on the dance floor. Often several times a week. Anyone who saw them dance together would not only see their great rhythm and synchronous steps, but also the deep love and commitment they had for each other.

Rachel is survived by her children, Robert (Lisa) Santa Cruz, Patricia (Jess) Pino, Peggy Santa Cruz-Reyes, John Santa Cruz, and Barbara Santa Cruz; grandchildren, Adrian (Roger) Bevan, Anthony and Rachel Santa Cruz, and Adam Pino; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathan, Kyle, Zachariah Bevan, and Nathan Pino. She is also survived by four sisters, two brothers, and their families.

A viewing is scheduled Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3700 River Blvd., between 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., on March 28, 2016. A Catholic Mass service will be held at Saint Joseph Church, 1515 Baker Street, Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd.
