Ralph Miner Banks

Obituary Condolences

Ralph "Poppa" was born in Spanish Fork, Utah, to William and Thelma Banks. He and his family moved to Bakersfield when he was a toddler, where he lived the remainder of his life. Ralph met and fell in love with Donna Lawson in the spring of 1961 and married shortly thereafter. Donna was the love of his life. They were happily married for 49 years and were blessed with two daughters.
Ralph enjoyed attending all the grandchildren's activities and was their biggest fan. He was affectionately known as Poppa to all. His favorite pastime was to head to Pismo along with Donna, where they camped, fished, went crabbing, and just sat back and enjoyed watching the kids play on the beach.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Donna. He is survived by his daughters, Lori (Clay Jones) and Susan (Robert Laughlin); nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Memorial Hospital, Dr. Laughlin, Dr. Aggarwal, and Dr. Ashraf for their support and compassion shown to our father.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA 93313. For condolences please visit:
