Raymond Sylvester Finn Jr.

08/07/1925 - 04/28/2014 Obituary
Raymond Sylvester Finn Jr. Raymond passed away peacefully April 28, 2014, in Arroyo Grande, Ca. He was a native Californian, born on August 7, 1925 in Los Angeles, Ca. to Raymond and Edna Finn.
A veteran of WWII, Ray served on the USS Yorktown as a crew member of one of the infamous bombing squadron planes. After his discharge from the US Navy, he made Bakersfield his home town. There he ultimately met the love of his life Belva Morrill. Ray retired from Superior Oil Co. after 30 plus years of service, and he and Belva built their own home in the pines of Bass Lake, where they enjoyed their retirement. Their door was always open to the many friends and family who wanted to get away and enjoy the beauty of Bass Lake and the wonderful company of Ray and Belva.
Ray never met a stranger, and if he came to your home for a visit, he would know your neighbors better than you did within a day or two, and they would probably prefer his company more as well. Ray walked on a cloud, some might call it walking flatulence, but a cloud all the same. His sense of humor and toothy grin, were irresistible. We all love you Ray, and we miss you already." You can have all the ice cream you want now buddy, go for it".
He was preceded in death by his wife Belva, and his sister Edna. He is survived by his brother, Cecil Finn, his daughter Marsha and husband Bob Holtz, his son Bruce and wife Patti, daughter Kathleen and husband Stan, adopted son Steve Richardson and wife Becky , and his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended Morrill family and his very special friend Johanna.
In honor of Raymond's service to his country and in lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or to Hospice.
Memorial service will be held at the Merced District Cemetery, 1300 B St. Merced, Ca. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10 am.
