Reba Gail Billingsley Taylor

Reba Gail Billingsley Taylor Obituary
Reba Gail Billingsley Taylor was born December 28, 1953 in Bakersfield. Reba grew up in Lamont and Arvin, graduating from Arvin High School in 1972. She went onto California State University, Fresno where she graduated with Bachelor's degree in Criminology. Reba was always very academic, but was also involved in Girl Scouts and other school and family activities.
After college, Reba worked at Tehachapi Prison, where she met and then married her husband of 33 years, Doug Taylor. She then worked as a Kern County probation officer, and became especially impassioned with working with teens and children. Reba and Doug had two daughters, Rachel and Valarie. As a mother, Reba was very involved in her children's school and other activities; she volunteered at Panama School, was a Girl Scout leader, and was always available to assist in the activities of her daughters and their friends. She is best described as the 'mom of all moms'.
In more recent years, Reba enjoyed family gatherings, lots of 'dinners out' with Doug, and shopping. In 2007, she became the proud grandmother of Ivy Lomas, whose brother Mason soon followed. Grandma Reba successfully and proudly spoiled them both.
Reba is survived by husband Doug, daughters Rachel Lomas of Beaumont, Texas and Valarie Taylor of Massillon, Ohio; two grandchildren, Ivy and Mason Lomas, and her mother, Dale Billingsley of Lamont. She is preceded in death by her father, Earl Billingsley, and brother David Billingsley.
Reba was a loving, generous and thoughtful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. All who knew her were blessed by her enthusiasm and generosity.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 4500 Buena Vista Road, Bakersfield, CA 93311, on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Please send condolences to the family.
