Richard Tomlinson Obituary

Richard E. "Dick" Tomlinson 1943 - 2010 Dick was born on June 22, 1943 in Bakersfield, CA, and passed away on November 25, 2010, at the age of 67, after a short battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, Everett and Ruth Tomlinson; baby sister, Carol Ann Tomlinson; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.T. and Annie Scott. Dick is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carolle; sister, Donna Kuzminski and husband Del; son, Craig Tomlinson; daughter, Kimberly Siefert and husband, Eric; grandchildren Gavyn and Kylie Siefert; stepgrandson, Tannen Siefert; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Also, our special friends, Allen and Jana Anderson, thank you for your lifelong friendship. Dick attended schools in Lamont, CA, graduating from Arvin High School in 1961; he also attended B.C. He worked for Safeway/Vons for many years, retiring to start a Little Debbies distributorship, retiring again in 2003. Retirement with his wife meant many trips to Laughlin, NV and to Pismo Beach. But his overall favorite trips were the family vacations every year to Lake Tahoe. Dick was a great cook, but only chose to do so during the holiday seasons, or for special birthdays. In his younger years he was a catcher for several local baseball teams; he loved golfing, B.C. football games, and NASCAR racing. Thank you to all of Dick's doctors and their staff, and Kern Co. Fire Dept., Station 8 for your care and assistance. A special thank you to Optimal Hospice and their entire staff, especially Isabello, Aretha, Carolyn and Chaplain Bob Winter. A graveside service will be held on Friday, Dec. 3rd, at 1:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Association, or to Optimal Hospice Foundation. www.bakersfield.com/obits
