Dick was born to Shorty and Dink Ivester and raised in Oildale. It was there that his older brother Bob and the Blackmon brothers challenged his bravery on a daily basis. He was always their guinea pig for whatever mischief they got into. Always known for his big heart and big hands. Dick developed a great love for animals, especially his horses. In his retirement, as a heavy equipment operator, he enjoyed his blacksmith shop, wood working and restoring horse drawn buggies. Those hobbies were cut short when he developed Parkinson's disease.
Dick is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pat; his children Michael, Suzie, Penni, Carri and their spouses; his brother Bob and wife Paula; and sister-in-law Jackie Ardell. He was loved and adored by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. We will always remember his big smile and his kind heart.
