Richard Salazar Estrada Obituary
Richard Salazar Estrada May 21, 1946 - May 16, 2012 Visitation for Richard Salazar Estrada will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. Graveside will be at the Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Viola Estrada; son and daughter-in-law, Richie and Michelle Estrada; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Leroy Stowe; son, Victor Estrada; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jeremiah, Emily, Amaya, Joaquin and Baby Girl; his siblings, Joe, Alfred, Sylvia, Henry, Alex and their spouses; and numerous other family members and friends. Richard was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad and he spent his later years working for Grimmway Farms. A man of many trades. When the garage door was open and the oldies were playing, everyone knew Richard was in his element, determined to repair anything and everything in his path. Intensely dedicated and loyal to family and friends, his presence could always be counted on in times of need, be it to fix a broken down jalopy or for some philosophical guidance. Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you, an axiom for which he lived his life by. He will always be remembered as a loving brother who you could go to for knowledge and oftentimes with it came a bottle of wisdom. A big sensitive heart and wonderful spirit. He was a fun, adventurous, respectful and caring brother, known to be the family peacekeeper, for he believed the true meaning of life is family. He served in the U.S. Army, 1965-67. May he rest in peace. For additional information, please call Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200. Basham Funeral Care www.bakersfield.com/obits
