Rick, somehow legacy found me this morning. You are loved fiercely by family and friends, you lived large, being so proud of you "girls", and always being present in all they and your boys were doing in sports and in life. They brought you as much joy as you brought them. I know my best friend and you beautiful wife Becky is thinking of you and remembering so many happy times you both shared together and with your family. I want to thank you for the many years that you and Becky shared an amazing friendship with Everett and myself. Becky continues to be my dearest friend.
Thinking of you, I have to smile at your enthusiasm for life. You are missed dear friend. I pray sweet memories for Becky, your son´s, granddaughter´s and the many family member´s and friends that are remembering you now.
Thank you for being you

Once again my heart go out to the family of Rick, as he was a friend of my beloved Dean, and their deaths was only 4-days apart, so as it comes up on ten years, Becky and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers as all of the memories come flooding back, but those memories have helped me through the longest of days and the darkest of nights.

Another year goes by without the ones we loved so dear. Uncle Rick, you and Grandma Sharp was the glue to this family. Nothing is the same without y'all here. I know life must go on, but there sure is a great void without the both of you. You are so loved and missed. I know my mom misses u and grandma, and aunt Janet like no other. I see days were she struggles wanting to pick up the phone to call one of you just to hear your take on things. Yalls opinion was golden to her. Just hope your seeing all the great things your family is doing, seeing those beautiful granddaughters and their babies and how precious they are. You would be so proud. Your boys look like they are happy and doing well in life and I know that would make your heart happy. Family was everything to you. Well I love abd miss you and will meet up with you at the end of my road. Until then show off them beautiful angel wings ❤

I posted this picture on my facebook page in memory of the Rick I knew while growing up in Shafter, and through the friendship Rick and Becky had with my parents. As the say, A PICTURE REALLY IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS. So here it is, Rick cutting up, clowning around, and being a great friend.

My heart aches on your loss of Rick,
for I have also lost my true love of 37 years
Dean's memorial service was also on saturday Nov 20th. Dean always talked about Rick and was always glad to hear that he was doing OK, now they are together again and watching over us all.

Becky,
Just know that we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers in the months to come. Rick was always so full of life and laughter. Whenever we would run across you and Rick somewhere (Stateline, Vegas, Don Pericos, etc.) it would seem like we had just seen you yesterday and the years would just melt away. So sorry we had to miss the service but I know it was a beautiful tribute to a great husband, father and friend. God Bless you with all our love, Tom and Sherry Sharp

Becky,
I am just sick that I didn't call when you and Rick were so heavy on my heart. The last few weeks I have thought of you two often and was planning to come out to see you this next week. I will miss my visits to see one of my favorite patients. I am blessed to have fond memories of Rick and will forever remember his great smile and spirit. If I can help at all, please call me. I will call you and check in. Thanks for allowing me to share in Ricks life. I would be at the service today, however I just found out about him passing away and it is nearly time for it to start. God Bless you. Lots of love and prayer.

Having grown up in Shafter, I remember seeing Rick around town often. His friendly demeanor, positive attitude, and genuine friendliness are just a few things I remember. A true 'gentleman' in every sense.
Our sincere sympathies and condolences to all the family for your loss.
My mother, Barbara Judd, sends her condolences as well.

Cousin Rick was a man with a heart of gold, loved by everyone. He always had a smile, could tell a great story, tell a great joke and loved to play cards. The card playing and joke telling is genetically Sharp for sure! He always made you feel special and like you were his favorite! He had lots of cousins and nieces and nephews and I know I always thought I was his favorite when I knew everyone felt the same exact way that I did.
He will be missed so much. God must have needed a very special angel to take Rick....my heart goes out to Becky, Ricky Don, Mark and Gabby and his granddaughters, and to all the rest of the Sharp family-Rick's Rebels. Love you cousin Rick, I will never forget how much you touched my life. I am so glad we had one more last visit.

I REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE ALL YOUNG & RICK WAS ALWAYS AT OUR HOUSE. BACK THEN HE WAS JUST A PART OF THE FAMILY & IT WAS NORMAL FOR HIM TO ALWAYS BE AROUND. HE WAS ALWAYS HAPPY WALKING AROUND & SINGING, APPLES, PEACHES, PUMKIN PIE. LOOKING BACK, IT WAS AN HONOR THAT RICK CHOOSE US AS HIS EXTEND FAMILY. HE WAS ALWAYS READY TO HEPL WITH WHAT EVER NEEDED TO BE DONE. WE ALL WENT OUR SEPARATE WAYS AS WE GREW OLDER & DIDN'T STAY IN TOUCH FOR OUR BROTHERS HAD PASSED AWAY & HE SHOWED UP AT THE FUNERAL TO SHOW HIS LOYALTY & SUPPORT TO HIS OLD FRIEND EVEN THOUGH HE WAS SICK. & IN PAIN THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME WE FOUND OUT THAT HE WA SICK THESE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE TIME WE VISTED RICK TO CATCH UP ON OLD TIMES & BE THERE TO SUPPORT RICK & HIS FAMIL WERE PRICELESS. I WOULDN'T TAKE ANYTHING FOR THE TIME WE GOT TO SPEND TOGETHER. RICK LIVED IN ONE TOWN, IN ONE HOUSE HIS WHOLE LIFE. IT WASN'T RICK THAT LOST TOUCH WITH US IT WAS US WHO LOST TOUCH WITH HIM. RICK'S LOYALTY TO HIS WIFE, HIS KID'S HIS JOB & HIS FRIENDS WENT FAR ABOVE. WE CAN ALL LEARN FROM HIM BY THE WAY HE LIVED LIFE. YOU WILL BE MISSED BRO.

Dear Becky and family,
This is from both myself and David, but especially from David. If he
could tell you himself, he would let you know that he thought the
world of Rick and was glad to have worked all those years with him
at Brown and Bryant. My folks (the Worley's) absolutely adored
him. And you too, Becky. He will be missed. God Bless and give you peace and comfort.

Rick, you blessed me in so many ways. I have memories of a great man, a loyal and steadfast friend. A guy who had me laughing often. I remember you telling me you'd just seen a really funny movie, that I would like it! As you began to describe it, I said, "Rick,I went to the movies with you!" Every time I watch Mrs. Doubtfire I laugh, because I am reminded of you. I am reminded of a friend who found great pleasure in being able to do for others. You loved people, and people loved you right back. I will miss you. Your friends, your coworkers and your community will miss you. I don't think there were many people that you met daily who weren't touched by your goodness, your integrity and your willingness to reach out to them. They will miss you, how could they not. I am a better person for knowing you. This isn't goodbye, I will see you again, who knows, maybe we'll watch a movie! I love you my friend!

When my daughter McKenzie got married at Mannel Park six years ago , Rick did everything he could to make everything as nice as he could. From powerwashing the gazebo to planting flowers to having a city employee at the park for anything we needed that day. I will never forget him for that.
I know your family is heartbroken, but your whole family will have such a great legacy left by Rick. I am sure you Becky, your kids and your grandkids will hear wonderful stories about a wonderful man for many, many years to come.
I'm so sorry, Pam(Estes)McElroy

Speaking as an engineer by trade, Rick's impact on Shafter City Hall and the Shafter community in general is incalculable. Speaking as a City employee, Rick was truly trusted and beloved by every employee that had the pleasure of working with him or under him.
I’ll miss but always remember many things about Rick including his quick wit, always having a joke or two to share, playful ribbing of others (including myself), his ability to deliver on anything I needed done, summaries about his Vegas outings, the laugh fest SEDAC meetings and (my personal favorite) the adventures we had going to that one Lakers game several years ago which gave Rick a lot of ribbing mileage on me!
Although our City of Shafter family will never be the same without him, it gives me great pride as the current Public Works Director to see Rick's legacy live on through the work ethic and commitment of my fellow Public Works employees which he always inspired.

I had the honor of working with Rick @ Brown & Bryant in Shafter many years ago. He was one of the hardest working, most thoughtful, caring and kindest guys I ever knew. And one never doubted how much Rick loved his wife & sons. I am terribly saddened to learn of his passing, and I send my sincerest condolences to Becky, Ricky & Mark. Rick was a true friend.
