Rita McCluskey Obituary

Rita Jane McCluskey October 27, 1931 - September 20, 2010 Funeral services for Rita Jane McCluskey "Janey" will be held at Valley Baptist Church on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Cayucos Morro Bay Cemetery in Cayucos, CA. Janey was born October 27, 1931 in Henderson, Arkansas and was named after her great-grandfather who was a doctor. She and her family moved to California when she was six years old and graduated from Standard School in 1946 and served as student body secretary. She attended and graduated from KCHS (Bakersfield High School) in 1950 where she again was the student body secretary and was also Military Ball Queen her senior year. Janey went to work after graduation at Texaco as a secretary / stenographer. In 1951 she married Jack Brown and was blessed with two children, Greg Louis Brown and Gina Elyce Brown. Janey worked for the Kern County Welfare Department as a secretary / stenographer until her retirement. Janey married Jim McClusky and they enjoyed many years vacationing in their motor home. She is survived by her son, Lewis Brown; grandson, Harry Scott III; grandson, Joshua Scott and wife, Brandy; granddaughter, Sarah Burton and husband, Brett; great grandchildren, Romi, Stephen, Riley, Reese, Demi and Grant Scott and Shaley, David and Elyce Burton; her sister, Rowena Trahan of Taft and her brother, Ralph H. Cox, Jr. of Bakersfield. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim McCluskey; her daughter, Gina Crabtree; parents, Ralph and Ola Cox and her brother, Robert Cox. ROWENA:

As you know,. I was in Janey's class at Standard Jr. High and BHS, until we graduated in k1950. Rowena, I am sure yoiiu know that Janey will be greatly missed. You have my heart felt sympathy.

My heart and prayers go out to all of Janey's family and friends. She has been one the most positive influences in my life since I was 10 years old when Gina and I became friends. I will miss her dearly but am assured that she is resting and at peace with Gina and Jesus.
