Robert Lopez January 12, 1953 - April 7, 2013 Robert Lopez was a charismatic, respectable, and honorable military man, who left behind a family that loved him dearly. He answered the call of duty at 17 and was devoted to serving others. As a Special Forces Green Beret in Vietnam, he received numerous awards, one of which being a Purple Heart. As a military hero, he led a peaceful life guided by service and protection. Robert had three sisters, Evie, Gina, and Cathy, who adored him. He was the cool older brother who took them on surveillance trips and taught them how to write in the snow. His stepmother, Gloria, recalls teaching him how to box and watching him grow into a charismatic and intelligent man. Robert made his second home in Kern County, where he played an active role in raising his nieces, Crystal and Kimberly Nyitray. He became a blood brother to William Nyitray, Evie's husband. As a very handsome man, he was matched and ranked with a wonderful woman, Debbie Donaldson, who he shared his life with for over 15 years.
