Robert Lopez Estrada Obituary
Robert Lopez Estrada April 9, 1940 - February 2, 2013 Visitation will start at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7th, with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Basham Funeral Care. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, February 8th, at Greenlawn Memorial Park on River Blvd. Robert lied about his age so he could enter the Army in 1956 - 1964. He was a mechanic. He loved being in the service because it took him to many places. He fell in love with a beautiful young lady in Spain. Unfortunately he was sent away. He never forgot about her and how happy she made him. He returned and worked for the Post Office as a mailhandler. He married and had children. He loved to cook and especially eat. He loved to go to the parks with his children. His interest s were in ships, planes, military equipment, Indian lifestyles, wolves, the ocean, the trees. He loved to go to museums all over the place. He was an eccentric man. He loved to learn and work with his hands and his imagination. He could get lots of things to come back to life. His collection of petrified rocks, fossils were part of his own museum at his home. Go to any thrift store and the employees knew him by name. He'd spend hours shopping for anything. He tinkered on many things. He also loved to ride his bike. He would strut himself in his biker shorts and ride for hours. He did have a love for his cheap Vodka and juice and rolling his own cigarettes. He loved his plants and especially his beautiful flowers. His yard was so pretty and unique. He had a huge shell wind chime, his train light, rock garden, his roses, his oriental statues for calm, his turtles and goldfish in his little pond. He loved his home. Most of all he loved his animals. He had many Pepitas and Pepitos. They were his constant companions. They were best friends. Now, they will all be together once again. Now his mother can continue to spoil him as she did before her passing. He is now where he can be free, no pain and have those that love him by his side. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Jesus; two brothers, Manuel and Jesus. Robert leaves behind his sister and brother-in-law, Augustina and Jose Urrutia and family; sister-in-law, Nellie Estrada and her loving family. Robert had one son Robert Jr. who succumbed to cancer at a young age. He has four daughters, Stella, Evelyn, Patricia, and Esther; and many grandchildren. www.bakersfield.com/obits
