Robert McClure Obituary
A funeral Mass for Robert Frederick McClure will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 601 E. California Ave. Graveside services will follow at Union Cemetery, 730 Potomac Ave. A reception is scheduled at Rio Bravo Country Club, 15200 Casa Club Dr., at 4 p.m.Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. including a rosary at 7 p.m. at Basham-Hopson Funeral Care, 620 Oregon St.Robert was born Feb. 21, 1928 in Cavalier, North Dakota and passed away suddenly on Sept. 14 in Bakersfield, Calif. at age 86.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years (Nora Patricia) and their family: Grace Anne (Steve) Goschke, children Lauren, Patrick and Clareanne; Thomas McClure, children Jacob, Matthew and Margaret; Frederick (Yannet) McClure, children Christian, Jonathan and Augustine. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Grumps." He also is survived by his sisters Carol McNamara (William) and Cathleen Correa and many nieces and nephews. His nieces and nephews lovingly called him "Uncle Trouble."Bob was preceded in death by his parents Florence and Thomas H. McClure and siblings, Thomas Raymond and John Warren McClure and Mary Janice Goon.
He was a member of the United States Marine Corps for 3 years and then brightened the lives of co-workers, first at McFarland Motors and then at the Purchasing Department of Kern County.
Robert and Pat were long-time members of Rio Bravo Country Club where Bob avidly golfed after retirement. Bob volunteered for many years at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where he and Pat were long-time parishioners. He was an active sports fan and was seen as well as heard at many local events. Bob and Pat enjoyed local theater and were "Angel" members of the Bakersfield Music Theater. They always were together whether with family at Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach or traveling the world.
He filled his life with fun and enthusiasm. He always was interested, informed and opinionated. He was loved.
