Robert Ornelas was born on January 5, 1937 in Bakersfield, California. His parents, Isabel and Paula Ornelas. The first born son to the Ornelas's, he was raised in Buttonwillow, California. After graduating from Bakersfield High School, when he was about 18 he met Juanita Alvarez. They dated for a little bit and were soon married in 1956. Juanita was an amazing women and they were together 60 years until she passed away in 2015. Robert and Juanita had five children: Bobby, Sandra, Chris, Shirley and Liz. They raised their children in a California ranch-style home on Brite Road in Buttonwillow. He loved to raise animals such as cattle, horses, sheep, chicken and pigs. He would go to auctions and farmed corn, wheat, cotton, and pretty much everything under the sun. He loved camping, fishing, and going to ghost towns with his brothers. Robert Ornelas was a Cowboy the kind that can only be found in movies now. He was a famous Farmer that was paid to go all over California to help other farmers get started. His little brothers would sometimes travel to see him at some of these farms in Northern California.
Lastly, and above all else he was a loving, caring person with a great sense of humor. He was a great story teller and could always make you laugh. He was extremely proud of his family: children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will always be loved and admired by his family and friends.
